The Great Divide

Post  Cruncher on Mon Dec 19, 2011 9:24 pm

This has happened before when we went from the old HVS MBBS version to TWGS. Once the dust settles and v2 becomes stable we'll all come together again. History tends to repeat its self this way.

V2 won't become stable. Best thing for JP to do is abandon that project and do what he should have done to start with.

I wish you and the other 3 players that support you and your cause the best of luck. I am still out after BOTE is won by GZ. At least for a while. I call it my indefinite hiatus. (not that anyone will care about the indefinite part...lol)

R/L does come first. After BOTE I have to cut back as well, busy time of year for me. I'll still play a little game or two, but nothing too intense.

I'm just saying, as much as Big D is digging his heals into playing 1.03 and wanting that fixed, that's exactly what happened when we converted from HVS MBBS to TWGS. I don't remembe exactly who the hold-outs were then, but eventually everyone migrated to TWGS.

Dont hold your breath. More and more people are being ran off over the few that want to ruin the game. Not sure how anyone can think that making changes to please the minority while turning a cold shoulder on the majority is a good idea, but its a leading reason why, after BOTE, I am out.

Today's majority was yesterday's minority.

The diffference is, TWGS had 1000 of players up to version 1.03, this new version will have 10 or 20 maximum. JP either doesn't know how to attract new players, or his new version sucks enough that he can't attract new players, and he's already ran off half of the old players. History may repeat itself, but that won't do TW any good because it IS history unless JP changes his plans.

Or, all the new players are too intelligent to post in this forum. or play public games.

That's a few more than 10 - 20 people downloading each new release. Wink

That's only the redirects from the forum. There are a lot more downloads than that.

Insulting the userbase outside of smack isn't good, Cruncher.
Pendator strikes! Total redirects does not equal # of downloads...

Clearly there are a lot of players that don't do public servers, and they don't post in forums.

Oso wrote:Total redirects does not equal # of downloads...

There are a lot more downloads than forum redirects, because not everone reads the forums.

yea, since jp has proven himself to be sooooo trustworthy, one would never expect him to pad the numbers in a vane attempt to re-assemble the remnants of the reputation he destroyed.

Laff, in laymans terms, I simply call BS

JP wrote:Corp messages are currently secure, but they're not sent as events in realtime, so they're not useful as a way to securely control bots. I believe that's the concern here, not content of corp messages. Some people want a secure, private corp comm link. That's what subspace was meant to be, a means for corporations to communicate as a group, but it was intentionally not made secure. I've wanted to avoid making it secure or making a replacement for it with a private corp comm link because I think that's a pretty big change.

JP again ignores the requests of the majority of the player base. Even Helix said that he would like to see a secure private channel for corps. And yet some people wonder why the majority of the player base refuse to play his new version. Instead JP wants to require turns to move planets. What a joke.
