John Pritchett wrote:I did an interesting test today where I did a macro-burst to move a planet from one sector to another 1000 times at maximum speed (ANSI off), with another player on the planet riding it. Prior to the recent release, this was causing the riding player to go out of sync and sometimes drop off the planet, and other times end up in the wrong sector or worse with mangled sector data (sector number shows up in the warps list, for example). But that's fixed now. And what was interesting about this test was that I had the riding player also bursting the same macro so they were both warping the planet back and forth, fighting for control of it. And it was able to stay in sync, nobody dropped to the sector and both players stuck with the planet and in the correct sector. So that's definitely stabilized. Finally.
Re: 2.18B
ok, so now tell us what 14 other bugs were created in the process.

He also fixed the bug that would kill mombot in the exit/enter mode.

Did he try using other commands while moving around, such as have a corpie holo, lay figs, mines, buydowns, did he try some planet to planet interaction, how about try things like citkill or did he run macs from the planet like invation stuff, any sort of pgridding stuff, exit and enters, clearing enemy mines or figs from the cid prompt? Iam glad he considers using a mac to pwarp around for a minute or 2 a thorough test!

Re: 2.18B
I hear through the grapevine that several more scripts that handle mines in the sequence have been rendered useless in this version. Ooops

Re: 2.18B
And I've said time and again, that's normal for debug/fix with this game.
If you report them, the process goes much faster toward a more stable v2.
This game was not designed for the way you guys play it today. Taking it to the extreme is going to result in undesirable behaviors (bugs).

Re: 2.18B
It killed the minesweeper scripts I use.

Re: 2.18B
Yea, and I doubt we will ever see the demise of the planet fuel bug.

Re: 2.18B
Scripts can be modified and redistribuited. If a fix that keeps a player from lifting is more desirable, keep the fix, modify the script.
That's what you guys like to do anyhow isn't it? Write scripts?

Well, you got part of that right. If needed we will modify our scripts. Where you were mistaken is on the "redistribution" part. Ground Zeros scripts will work fine on whatever version we decide to play.

That does not include fixing other people's messes.

scripts would not need to be modified if hitler hadn't screwed up the game by introducing 14 new bugs with ever release.

Just like JP said, we are the minority, there are tons of other players/servers out there, let them find the bugs, after all, you guys asked for the changes!! I just find it funny that you guys didnt want to listen when we told ya what the effects of the changes would be, but are looking at us to help debug it LMAO!!! That really shows what horrible players the "majority" is, that includes you cruncher!!
